Eduardo Eurnekian inaugurates new airport in Montevideo.
As from 15 November the Uruguayan air terminal, which is almostfour times higher than at present and has capacity for three millionpassengers a year, will be fully operational.
"Uruguay still friends and families will greet the new arrivals,or dismiss those who leave, so the terminal provides great spaces forpassengers," said architect Rafael Vinoly, by the design of the work Inan interview with El Pais newspaper.
The opening of the airport will have the presence of Presidentof Uruguay, Tabaré Vázquez, and the head of Group Corporate America,Eduardo Eurnekian, among others.
The station area, located a few kilometers from the city ofMontevideo, occupies an area of 45,000 square meters and has a dome 400meters which gives a peculiar physiognomy.
The outdoor space of the main building is divided into threesectors: public parking, with capacity for 1,200 vehicles, and twoareas with restricted access to technical and service sectors.
Its interior is notable for the wide open spaces and naturallight it receives through a glass surface of 8,000 square meters at thetop.
Have eight gates, four of them equipped with remote sleeves with 20 positions for the movement of passengers.
The baggage handling system is fully automated. The conveyor beltshold baggage from check-in area for the items, exit to the courtyard ofbaggage.
For arrivals, there will be three bands for the baggage claim carousel one with a double to serve major flights.
It will also have a mall or "Duty Free Shop," according to theCorporation, will be "the largest in South America" with an area of3,000 square meters.
